An enjoyable days fishing can be had out on the water, either within the bay itself, at Separation Point, on the west coast via Westhaven Inlet or on the rivers. The calm sandy seabed provides the best scallop beds in New Zealand, while the cool clear waters of the Takaka River are ideal for trout.
